One person was killed and two others critically wounded when gunfire erupted during a party held for an NFL player at a Beverly Hills mansion, according to reports.

The LAPD received a call about the large party about 7:30 p.m. Monday on Mulholland Drive in the upscale Beverly Crest neighborhood, according to the LA Times. The shooting occurred about 12:45 a.m. Tuesday.

A man who said he was working security for the party said it was being thrown for an unidentified NFL player, CBS Los Angeles reported.

In a video one reveler posted to Instagram, about 20 gun blasts could be heard in two series of firings, followed by chaos as partygoers tried to run for safety.

“A bunch of gangsters came in and robbed everybody and started shooting everybody. a lot of people with money and guns and gangsters got crazy I ran for my life it was crazy,” gabrieldaactor323 wrote in the caption.

The three people who were shot were rushed to local hospitals, where one person died and two others were in critical but stable condition, the LAPD told CBS-LA. A man in his 30s and a woman in her 40s were among the victims.

A fourth person suffered a non-firearm-related wrist injury while escaping the mayhem. None of the victims have been identified. It was unclear if any suspects have been arrested.

Kennie Leggett, who told CBS-LA that he was head of security for the party, said it was thrown to celebrate a player recently drafted to an NFL team, but did not elaborate.

“We have money. We are people. This COVID, I mean, is just pushing us out everywhere, and we have nothing, so the only thing we do have is Airbnbs to rent swimming pools for our kids, to do big things and things of that nature,” Leggett told the station.

The company that manages the rental property said that it had advised the renters that the party was a serious breach of the rental agreement and asked them to vacate the property immediately, CBS-LA reported.

Before the shooting, police responded to multiple complaints from neighbors worried about the size of the gathering crowd.

Buses were seen dropping dozens of people off at the home. When cops first arrived, they found about 200 people, according to CBS-LA.

One of the revelers said that “a bunch of gangsters came in and robbed everybody and started shooting,” The Sun reported.
